Networking: as musicians, it is a word we are bound to hear many times before we even graduate from music school. Some of us love it; some of us hate it.  Many musicians have written about ways to reframe the experience of networking so that it can be a more enjoyable. Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and Instagram have become household names because of their ability to help people grow their personal and professional networks, but as musicians, we have been overlooked…until now.

At MusicaMatch, we aim to take the best qualities from all of these networks and put them together in order to help musicians showcase their own unique talents, abilities, and musical backgrounds on their own terms. We want to help you connect and collaborate with other musicians who share your interests and goals.

We live in a rapidly evolving musical climate. Orchestras around us are no longer as stable as they used to be and our community has begun to adapt. To name one, there are festivals springing up all over the country that are run by musicians featuring other musicians often between ages 25 and 35.

However, with all of these great new opportunities, it is sometimes challenging to find artists outside of those in your pre-existing network. For musicians new to a city, it can be difficult to meet new colleagues even for a casual night of sight reading, let alone to be discovered by contractors and people who can offer gigs.  

At MusicaMatch, you can build a Musician Profile, complete with your headshot, bio, instrument, current city, and audio/video samples. In your profile, you can also include where you went to school, who you studied with, who you regularly play with, and your most celebrated collaborations. The “fun facts” section can help other members get a sense of who you are as an individual away from your instrument.

Musicians are the heart of the MusicaMatch community, and the community is only as strong as its individual members. We have finally launched our official live Beta on iOS after being in development for a year. Spots are limited, so if you would like to get a jump start into the network, please email community@musicamatch.com with your email address and name. We plan to have our official public launch in August 2016.
